When importing any of the current pre-built site demo’s, will that have any effect on the site settings we currently have in place? It says that theme settings override with each import?
SmartWpThemesKeymaster1 year, 10 months ago #4068When you import a new demo below listed site settings will be affected.
1. “Appearance > Menu”.
2. “Appearance > Widget”
3. “Manual Options” settings will be overwritten.
4. Sometimes there are also possibilities of having duplicate posts if the same demo got imported multiple times. Thanks
NiallBreenIntactParticipant1 year, 10 months ago #4071Hello,
I just wanted to be sure of this.
We just upgraded to Manual version 7.2.5. As part of the upgrade we had planned to look at these pre-built templated pages: Manual Digital Agency (Elementor) New, Classic Corporate (Elementor) and Manual Online Service (Editor).
We believed that when we upgraded to 7.2.5 that these places would be in the Pages location in WordPress as Drafts – and they would be available to customise as we please. This was the target goal as we didn’t want to have to build them from scratch.
However, if I am reading it correctly, you say they are only available as a new “Demo” and if we import them, the following site settings will be affected:
1. “Appearance > Menu”.
2. “Appearance > Widget”
3. “Manual Options” settings will be overwritten.
4. Sometimes there are also possibilities of having duplicate posts if the same demo got imported multiple times. If I am reading correctly and we import a new set of Demo pages (such as Classic Corporate – Elementor), we are risking the current design of our website with this import?
If so, is that not a bad user experience for people who previously had the Manual theme. As that means any new pages/demos that are released, we don’t get the advantage of them as they will override our site settings.
We love the new templated pages. And would like to use them with a bit of customisation. Is there any way of importing those templates without affecting the current design or resetting the settings of our whole site?
Thanks
SmartWpThemesKeymaster1 year, 10 months ago #4074It is required to understand a few core stuff… about what will happen if someone tries to import a new demo on an already existing demo.
1. Manual theme design depends on “Manual Options” until and unless there is no direct customization done manually on the Manual theme core file. So when you import the new demo on an already existing demo the first section that gets overwritten will be “Manual Options”. (so before you re-import anything it is necessary to take the backup of “Manual Options” so that if anything happens you can immediately re-store the manual theme design.)
2. For the images no data will be lost instead new images and files will be added (if new import files has any).
3. For the post_type “pages/post/knowledgebase/documentation/faq” nothing will be changed all will remain the same i.e, no file overwrite will take place, BUT surely the new demo files will be added like the demo “home page”, faq articles, knowledgebase articles…
4. For “Appearance > Wiget” if any new widget is used then it will get added to the list.
5. Finally “Appearance > Menu” the new menu gets added to the list. So it is strongly required to delete the added files.
NOTE
============
To max possible from the upcoming new version. The manual theme will have a new feature inside “Manual Theme > Import” from where the user can import ONLY the page design OR ONLY the theme new design of the selected demo. Also, there will be a page designs template available for import on the page builder plugin “Elementor and WpBakery”.Thanks
NiallBreenIntactParticipant1 year, 10 months ago #4075Thanks for that, the new page design import feature sounds really exciting. Will this allow us to simply import page designs and tweak the fine details of it to suit our sites needs?
Also, do you have any details on when this update will be coming?
Thanks.
SmartWpThemesKeymaster1 year, 10 months ago #4076Yes, you can simply import the page designs and tweak the details to suit your need.
Well, it depends on our ‘development team’ so can’t provide you with an exact time. But it will be available sooner 🙂
