Settings

The Settings section in AI SmartBase allows you to configure how your knowledgebase behaves, customize its display, manage email notifications, integrate AI features, and reset data. The settings are organized into tabbed sections for easy navigation.
Tab One – Post Slug
This tab lets you control the URL structure and editor type for your articles.
- Change Article Post Slug: Customize the URL slug for your articles. For example, change
/article-title/to/knowledgebase/article-title/. - Change Category Slug: Set the URL slug for categories to match your site structure.
- Editor Type: Choose between:
- Block (Gutenberg): Use WordPress’s default block editor.
- Classic Editor: Use the traditional WordPress editor for article creation.
Tab Two – General
Control general features and display options for your knowledgebase.
On/Off Features:
- Chat Widget
- Meta fields (Views, Likes, Date, Read Time, Post By)
- Voting system
- Email request form
- Related articles
- Recently viewed articles
- Comments
- Next/Previous links
- AJAX search
- Table of contents
- Breadcrumbs
- Featured image/video display
Additional on/off:
- Reading progress tracker (progress bar at the top)
- Flagged posts
- Print option
- Bookmarking
- Comment rating info
- Font size changer
- Browser Text-to-Speech
- Social share on category and single page
This tab gives you full control over what features are visible and how users interact with your knowledgebase.
Tab Three – Email
Configure the email addresses used for requests and notifications:
- Request/Notification Email: Set the email where users’ requests or notifications are sent.
Tab Four – Privacy
Control access to voting and rating:
- Voting/Rating Access: Restrict access to logged-in users or specific user roles to ensure proper usage of interactive features.
Tab Five – Static Text
Edit built-in text strings used across the plugin:
- Customize labels, buttons, and messages displayed in the knowledgebase.
- Ideal for adjusting wording to match your site’s tone or language.
Tab Six – OpenAI API
Integrate AI features using your OpenAI API key:
- Enter OpenAI API Key: Connect AI services to your knowledgebase.
- Quick Summary: Automatically generate a summary inside each article.
- Note: Quick Summary depends on your API quota. A message will appear if limits are reached.
- Chat Widget (Smart Assistance): Provide AI-powered help to users.
- AI Content Generator: Generate content inside the editor and insert it into your posts.
Tab Seven – Shortcodes Reference
Easily access the built-in shortcodes for displaying knowledgebase elements:
- Knowledgebase UI: Display your knowledgebase layout anywhere.
- Knowledgebase Search: Add a search box to your pages.
- User Dashboard: Display user-specific dashboards with bookmarked articles, flagged posts, and purchases.
Tab Eight – Reset All Data
Reset plugin data as needed:
- Reset Views: Clear all article view counts.
- Reset Voting Counters: Reset likes, dislikes, and ratings across all articles.
Note: Use this feature carefully, as resetting data cannot be undone.
The AI SmartBase Settings panel provides full control over your knowledgebase, from URL structures and editor preferences to AI integration and privacy options. Using these settings, you can customize the user experience, track interactions, and maintain your knowledgebase efficiently.
